With over 70 million followers on Tik Tok, Bella Poarch is nest known for her childlike facial expressions and catchy lip- sync viral videos. She holds the world record for most liked Tiktok video, known for the “M to the B” video. After signing with Warner Records, she has recently released  her debut single song “ Build a B*tch “ . Within the first week, the music video reached over 79 million views. 

 

Layering vocals with a bouncy bass drum as background music . The catchy and repetitive rhythm  makes the song widely remarkable. The song was created with Daniel Virgil Maisonneuve, the producer-songwriter better known as Sub Urban. Consistent  with her previous image in Tiktok , Build a B*tch is a funky, catchy earworm that highlights an badass message in the lyrics.

 

The robotic music throughout the whole song enhances the narrative of the music content, symbolizes modern women as customized robots. It brings out the harsh expectations of society  and social perceptions of beauty. 

 

“ So if you need perfect, I'm not built for you .” Bella delivered a strongly feminist message through the lyrics empowering modern women to have body autonomy , promoting women's self confidence. The value of women is far more than social labelling and norms . When speaking on the song messages , Poarch said: “Build A B*tch is about accepting yourself for who you are instead of listening to other people’s ideas of what you should do or how you should look. I hope it helps people to feel more confident and good about themselves, and also reminds them not to judge anyone else.”  She claimed this song was inspired by her childhood being bullied.

 

While Bella Poarch rose to fame overnight , she has been amid controversies from her path to music While her lip-sync videos are popular , she has also received criticism from the internet for being “ famous for no reason'', `` untalented'' .

Despite her image as a tiktok-star, “ Build a B*tch”  did catch great attention from listeners and spread  positive self-acceptance values to the public.
